It has been 5 years since I put down this podcast during my surprise pregnancy #5. And I have missed it. Old books have always had a strong presence in my life. One of the first things I ever started spending my own money on.
I remember clearly purchasing my first set of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass antique books at a library book sale when we moved to Missouri at the age of 16.
Would you believe those books are still on my bookshelf? And I have added to that collection over the years, different editions and prints with my favorite illustrators among them.
Having children only encouraged me in my love of children’s literature more and reading out loud became a regular affair in our home. It wasn’t just a bedtime routine, it was an anytime of the day thing. Then it became a mad rush to compete during summer reading contests. We would devour hundreds of books in just a few short months.
I love reading out loud to my children. But I love it just for the sake of it. It’s one sure way I know my ADHD brain will actually soak it in.
However, having been away for so long there are some things I can guarantee moving forward: it will not sound the same.
My voice is the same and so is my passion for well written living books, but I know there will be differences between the original episodes and how I finish the stories in recordings now 5 years later. And I hope you won’t mind too much!
Follow along, I have so many more good books to share with you…
Sincerely,
Julie
