In this episode of Once Upon a Storytime Podcast, we continue Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll with Chapter 10, “The Lobster Quadrille,” where the Mock Turtle and Gryphon introduce Alice to one of the most curious dances beneath the sea.
Join Alice as the Mock Turtle and Gryphon demonstrate the Lobster Quadrille, complete with lobsters, turtles, whiting, snails, and a wonderfully nonsensical song inviting everyone to join the dance. After the performance, Alice tries once again to recite a familiar poem, only to find the words strangely changed, before the Mock Turtle ends their visit with his mournful song about “Beautiful Soup.”
Filled with poetry, music, dancing, playful word games, and delightful nonsense, this chapter brings Alice’s seaside visit to a lively end—until the distant announcement of a trial sends Alice and the Gryphon hurrying toward their next adventure.
